Welcome to Eaters heaven
Beijing is eaters heaven, the only city in the world that can offer both Chinese cuisine from all the eight “kitchens” of China and first class cuisine from all over the world. Eating is an art in China and there is a long tradition of indulging in good food. This is a nation that had known the art of good cooking long before most of the western hemisphere knew what a good dinner was.
You find some of the best chefs of the Chinese kitchens in Beijing, all striving to present dishes that are a harmony of sight, smell and taste. It is not a coincidence that the sophisticated Chinese cuisine is listed in the top of the of world cuisines.
There is a lot of Beijing culinarian specialities. Most famous is the Beijing Roast Duck mostly called Peking Duck. This Beijing's most famous delicacy is slowly roasted over open fruit-tree wood fire to get the right crispy skin, moist and flavourful meat.
But hurry up to go to Beijing to be sure that you can enjoy a Peking Duck meal the old way! Environmental regulations are eventually going to forbid the more than 900 restaurants that are specialised in Peking Duck to roast it over open fire. Perhaps it will be gas or electric roast in the future which eventually will ruin a part of the taste of this heavenly dish.
A legendary drink Among drinks, the most famous liquor is Du Kang that combines both a strong taste with smoothness. This ancient drink that was first time brewed in the Zhou Dynasty (256-11 B.C.) by the legendary Du Kang, is still very popular.
